There are a few new vacancies at Respawn Entertainment. While anyone with sufficient training and experience with C++ and game development should apply, the rest of us can assume with fair certainty that there’s a new experience hitting the Apex Legends universe.
Job listings posted by the developer of Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment, highlight that the company is looking to fill positions for an ‘Apex Universe FPS Incubation Title” that may very well be a single-player game.’ The job listing in question calls for a Senior Engine/ Systems Engineer with sufficient C++ experience that will fill the new position of Senior Systems Engineer for an ‘Apex Universe FPS Incubation Title.’
The qualifying individual will ‘design, build, and maintain the technology that enables the team to create engaging gameplay and fantastic experiences.’
This isn’t the only listing, however. Respawn also posted a listing for a Hard Surface Artist. The listing reads that Respawn Entertainment is ‘looking for a talented and experienced Mid-Level 3D Hardsurface Artist to help build a brand new Respawn single-player adventure.’
It’s pertinent to note, however, that the first listing mentions an Apex Universe FPS Incubation title, but the second only lists the project as a ‘New Game Incubation Team.’ This means that both listings could either be for the same game, or two completely different titles.
While we can only speculate on what the game is, we can confirm what it isn’t. The new title will not be a new Titanfall game. Even though the franchise has existed since before the rise of Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment has previously stated that it isn’t working on any further Titanfall games as the developer has ‘too many other games’ in development at present.
This mention of ‘too many other games’ also leads us to believe these listings are for separate titles – but none of them will be Titanfall.
There was another listing posted in 2021 that stated that Respawn Entertainment was looking for talent for a ‘brand-new single-player adventure’ that takes place in a ‘unique universe.’ There’s no evidence that this listing is in any way affiliated with the other two, but it could be.
Either way, Respawn Entertainment is clearly very busy developing new experiences alongside all of the upcoming Star Wars IPs; Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a Star Wars strategy game, and a Star Wars FPS.
